Love Jewish Holidays!

Thursday, October 13, 2005

While all of my Jewish friends were fasting, I was baking sweets all day long for Break the Fast dinner at EmF's for Yom Kippur. I was in charge of bringing the desserts, so I did major research to make sure I could live up to her and Ruthie's mothers' Jewish cooking. I mean, I thought I already knew a lot about Jewish food, but now I have the complete knowledge of more specific dishes for corresponding holidays.

My after dinner menu:
Mandelbrot
Applesauce Cake
Sour Cream Apple Streusel Coffee Cake

Mandelbrot - not so yummy and very salty and I don't want to talk about it anymore.

Applesauce Cake - moist and flavorful.

Apple Streusel Coffee Cake - full of fun to make and great texture and tasty! One of my proudest productions.

EmF also created a fabulous dinner of chicken, noodle kugel, asparagus, and her mother's homemade Hallah! She is a wonderful cook and did a great job for the holidays. It was a nice meal - very cute how we all gathered and celebrated the holidays without our families. We're soo grownup!
