The WSJ
Friday, March 24, 2006
The Wall Street Journal came in the mail with MY name on it. I was in denial at first, but was assured it was mine. I realized my Princeton Review class has subscribed me to that and Time Magazine. It's here, time to face the facts that I must finally learn about 'businesses' if I want to go to business school. Seriously? I'm so screwed.

twenty five freakin' years old...
Wednesday, March 22, 2006
Today's events truly equate a real quarter life crisis:
1) turned down a 'chef' position
2) got manicures with my father
3) bought two pints rather than two gallons of ice cream because my father did not believe i could finish two gallons of ice cream and i was too embarassed to fight his beliefs today. i mean, it was a two for one deal, so it wasn't THAT random and who doesn't love to take advantage of the Edy's Slow Churned Light ice cream deals? but no, i faced the facts that perhaps, yes, that IS excessive ice cream consumption and i need to grow up. (although i am now debating if eating a lot of ice cream or not admitting to my father the truth about eating a lot of ice cream is less immature? so sad.)
i must go clean up stuffed animals now.
i love life.

the laundry machine
Friday, March 17, 2006
I'm finally home and well, I really can't digest it because I totally feel like crap. I have never slept this much - it's so weird.
Here's my random thought for the moment. I finally have all of my greatest possessions in one room (or two to be exact) for the first time in almost seven years when I moved out to go to college. My first project was to organize my clothes (being they are very very important to me) and throw out what I don't 'need' and consolidate to just one closet and set of drawers. (eek.)
I just folded some laundry and put my father's laundry into the dryer, when I realized something that I'm not sure is normal or not. Apologies to my future husband, but I never ever want to do our laundry together. I mean a) I have enough clothes that yours included will just make me do more loads and b) I think it'd be weird to fold your boxers and plus you're a grown man, so do it yourself. I know I've had the random t-shirts and pair of socks of yours to wash before, but to split the load in half each time? I just don't think so. My clothes are way too precious.
Just my thoughts.

At Octane with CK
Monday, March 13, 2006
I am officially old. I am 25 plus 1 day, i.e. almost 30. Eek! help! I just filled out a form and moved up a category - no longer associated with the 18-24 but on to the 25-29. I am NOT 29! I think I'm having issues with this concept. Slightly.
Now that I have gotten that out of my system. (Right.) I'll write about the rest of my trip.
Thursday 03.09.06
I drove through Texas and it was just as hideous as I expected. Woke up at 5:30 am, swiped food for the day from the free breakfast, and off I was. Took 12.5 hours from end to end with loads of coffee, pit stops, carrot sticks, peanut butter cookies, and random phone calls and texts. Texting while driving is a good challenge - keeps you awake when you're swerving around trying to look at the itsy bitsy letters on your itsy bitsy mobile and well also all of the excessively speeding cars on the freeway. But yeah, so Thursday was pretty much Texas. Not very eventful at all.
Friday 03.10.06
Again, awoke really early and said Good Morns to all these Louisianians, because they are all ridiculously friendly with their y'alls and how ya doin's. Too bad I had no voice this morns to really talk back - yes, I have gotten sick on my drive. Could be the fifty different climates and various allergies or perhaps sitting in a small suffocating car for a week. Hmm... But Friday's drive was better - drove through Lousisana, Mississippi, Alabamba, and then reached Georgia! I passed by old spots, like Six Flags and Downtown and arrived at CK's house with a huge hug waiting for me! We chilled out a bit, then met Hilla and some of CK's friends for dinner at Eclipse de Sol, then went to an Art Walk, saw some art (duh), then to a house, then to Lennie's (classic dive bar). Great night despite being exhausted. Just glad to be with some of my best friends that I haven't seen in way too long.
Saturday 03.11.06
While CK studied (lame, but she's in medschool so its excusable because with the difficulties in acquiring health insurance its nice to be friends with a smart soon to be doctor, so i let her study), Hilla and I did the girly thing - shopped for a party outfit, dim sum-ed, and pedicure-d. Later, CK and I went to Whirly Ball (lacrosse in bumper cars...?) to see Mogwai and then per my request all of us girls went out dancing to Vision - skanky but good enough music to keep dancing which made me happy.
Sunday 03.12.06
Happy 25th Birthday to me!
Despite being sick, it was a delightful day! Hilla, CK, and I went to breakfast and now have many new inside jokes regarding blueberries. Afterwards, CK and I went down to Athens (not the capital of GA for those wondering :*( ). We toured around, shopped, dined at Michael Stipes' veggie restaurant, helped a woman fleeing something, and just truly enjoyed the sunny beautiful weather of the day. Being stuffed but of course having to have dessert to celebrate, we went for some creamy pie and then home to rest. Thank you to everyone who called me, I loved talking to everyone!
Monday 03.13.06
CK and I are sitting in a coffee shop studying - ok so she's studying and I'm putzing around avoiding things I should be doing. But I'm supporting her studies! so it's all good. She's been the best-est hostess one could ask for too! While I'm so happy to be hear and reliving the old days it makes me a wee bit sad too that it can't always be like this. Maybe someday...
I'm on the road again tomorrow, going up to KaiSuv's home. So, again, you know where I am all of you Verizon customers (sorry, but while I would love to talk to everyone, it is a weekday and you cost me money).
Much Love!

Good Morns!
Last night I definitely went to bed later than I should have, but perhaps it didn't matter because I woke up almost every hour having nightmares that my car was broken into and ran to the window to check it. (Am I starting to regret this drive?)
Also, as I watch the news this morns, some things are coming together based on the 'noises' I heard last night. A bit after I fell asleep I heard skid marks like I've never heard and then a gigantic 'BANG!' Waiting for police sirens and never hearing any, I assume it's not a car crashing down the street. Oh, but it is. A woman had flipped her car over at the highway exit my hotel is on because she saw some animal or something skid across the road. The next big thing was a stabbing not too far away because the man didn't want to give the robbers his money. Thank goodness I just locked myself in here and didn't leave except to write down my license plate number, since if my car were to be stolen, I would have had no idea what to call it. But now I do, so no worries. :)
Shower time.
Have a good day!

(<- my travel companion, Christmas Mouse)
Hello Everyone!!
I realize I haven't even posted to my 'blog' in over three months (oops!), so here I go 'bloggin' about my 2nd Road Trip across the states. Yes, I know I'm crazy, but it was time to you know, move for the billionth time and change my life and start over again... No, but I'm excited, honest! Freaked out, but excited. And, the trip has been lovely so far.
Monday 03.06.06
After finishing packing up my car, I started my drive to Los Angeles to have dinner with my Aunt Clara and Uncle Timothy. They took me to a fantastic chinese restaurant, where we ate Shark Fin Soup, Huge Shrimp, Crab Claws, Lettuce Wraps, Sea Bass, Red Bean Soup, and Coconut Egg Drop Soup Sooo yummy!! Then they sent me along with a full bag of treats for the road. I'm really happy I got to see them before I left the state, because it's always such a wonderful time.

Following dinner, I drove to San Diego to visit an old high school friend, Sheffy, who I haven't seen in at least six years. When I got there, Sheffy, his girlfriend Cat, and I went to a bar to hang out, then back home to pass out.
Tuesday 03.07.06
San Diego was fun. In the morning, they took me to see the beautiful beach, cliffs, and ocean, and then to eat some tasty tacos. Lots of catching up and sharing stories about every high school person we could remember. Did I mention Sheffy also has one of the most adorable and intelligent puppies who was quite the center of attention but definitely deserved it. Later in the afternoon, I got on the road again and headed towards Tucson, AZ to visit my brother, Morten.
Despite not being hungry at all, I was exhausted and proceeded to snack on the divine Chinese Pork Jerkey my aunt and uncle gave me in order to stay awake and focused. I noticed that in the six hours of eating this jerkey, I had also drunk four bottles of water and still felt thirsty with an unacceptable headache. I was obviously hydrated and so it had to be something else. Ding! Chinese Jerkey = MSG overload!! Torn! What to do? It's soooooooo good!! And while its sooo bad for you, the flavor just makes that smart gene of yours to be healthy and not poison yourself just vanishes. Poof! I'm an airhead. Being that airhead, I also forgot AZ was an hour ahead so my timing was well, an hour off, and I didnt arrive until 11 pm. Off to the grocery store for dinner (yes, because I arrived too late and nothing was open) and back home to cook, chat, and chill.
Wednesday 03.08.06
Morten and I ran some errands and then had a gigantic but delicious breakfast at Blue Willow Cafe, where we ate Huevos Rancheros, because I 'had' to have them, so I was told. A bit more hanging out, then Morten went off to work and I got into my car again. It was a short day, driving only to El Paso, TX, because of the daylight that would no longer exist if I drove more and because of the hotels that would no longer exist if I drove more. Driving through Texas could be worse than the four hours I spent at the dentist a few weeks ago, from which I am still suffering of chapped lips. :( Driving through Texas could be worse than being unemployed with a way too big for my liking credit card bill. And driving through Texas could be worse than having absolutely no idea what I am going to do when I actually get through Texas and settle back in at my Dad's house! eek. It is THAT bad. What is hopeful about driving through Texas is knowing that on Friday I will be in Atlanta and visiting two of my best friends who I haven't seen in way way way too long. So yes, I'm in El Paso, TX now, and am going to head to bed so that I can awake early and start my drive through Texas.
I hope my car is okay, being that almost all of my possessions are piled inside...pray! (I mean, we are in Texas now.) Thank god I can see it from my hotel window. Phew!
Let me just remind everyone that this is might be the one and only time I will definitely pick up my cell phone and not screen calls or be at work or ignore it, so....PLEASE CALL ME!!!!!
I end with this:
Things I Learned while Driving
Radio
#1 Song: I'm N Luv (Wit a Stripper) by T-Pain and Mike Jones (embarassingly catchy)
#1 Genre: anything in Spanish or fuzz (soo not catchy)
Biggest Tease: Christian Rock. (after scanning for minutes with silence, noise appears and it's catchy and pop-like and then someone with a cute voice sings la la la fall to my knees, la la la pour water on me, la la la i owe my life to you, la la la...i realize, that again, i have been duped and am rocking out to Christian Rock. Who knew there were so many bands out there?)
Sights
3) Trucks. Big ones.
2) Flying sand. These southwestern states are a wee bit windy. Like so windy that when you open your car door to get out, it forcefully slams back.
1) Tumbleweeds! I thought that only happened in movies. It's like playing dodgeball with balls of dried crap floating all over the highway. Ridiculous!
Basically, there are none!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's barren and windy. And there are tumbleweeds! Big woop!
Oh wait, there was some motivation...
Religion and Politics
Where did all these Christians and Conservatives come from? I thought everyone was Jewish and Liberal, no?
Gas Stations
Gas is too expensive, bathroons are so gross (how did Britney do it?) and really cute attendees will give you free coffee. :)
It's bed time. Farewell and keep checking. Tomorrow will be the 'Saga of Driving Through Texas.'
